RFX Is the First TIA Member to Become Performance Certified at the $250,000 Level of The Guaranteed Payment Program

Alexandria, VA - March 18, 2010 - Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) is pleased to announce to the industry that they have certified their First Member at the $250,000 level of the Performance Certified guaranteed payment program – RFX, Inc. Avon, MA. 

Jim Morse, President of RFX, stated that “ For the past two years, we've maintained a total surety bond of $100,000.  Surprisingly, we still come across shippers and carriers with negative opinions toward the use of transportation brokers, so we decided to secure the $250,000 surety bond, the very best in the industry.   As a “TIA $250,000 Performance Certified” member, we want the transportation public to know they're doing business with the cream of the crop and a company that genuinely cares about the reputation of transportation brokers.” 

RFX, Inc. logistics was founded in 1987.  Its sister company, Refrigerated Food Express Inc. was founded in 1952. More than 30 regional dispatch offices provide nationwide service - reefers, vans, and flatbeds.   

TIA is hearing from its members that shippers are demanding higher levels of bond protection which is why TIA started the Performance Certified program. It would be very costly for a broker to have to secure a $100,000 or higher bond for every shipper that demands one. During these troubled economic times, shippers are very interested in financial stability. 

It is TIA's goal to continue to work with the shipping and carrier industries to acknowledge the Performance Certified program and its higher level of bond guarantee as the industry accepted guarantee payment program. The program hopes to eliminate the need for individual specialty bond requirements by shippers and carriers. 

The major freight matching systems have agreed to identify freight and truck postings from the TIA Performance Certified participants in their systems. As a Performance Certified company, your loads are highlighted in the systems by the Performance Certified Shield logo, and in some cases, your loads are listed first!  For parties seeking truck capacity to move their goods, companies displaying this logo provide an assurance of a commitment to “no hassles and no surprises” transportation.
